人生在世，好歹照輪；歹勢好勢，攏是一種凡勢。

拍謝少年第三張專輯《歹勢好勢》，靈感來自跟前輩討教台語歌詞時的一瞬之光。

「歹勢」是大眾日常慣用的語助詞，「好勢」在不同的情境下，例如事情辦得妥當，或是搞砸事情的時候，便是兩種截然不同之意，更別提把字分開來讀的無限韻味，展現台語文字獨有的美與深邃。當「歹勢好勢」放在一起時，意義在兩面光譜之間浮浮沈沈的姿態實在非常迷人。

拍謝少年這次嘗試擔任自己的製作人，一起作詞作曲，與錄音師孟諺共同製作；台語歌詞部分則特邀金曲台語男歌手、最佳作詞「黑哥」謝銘祐助陣把關，與黑哥討論台語獨特的用詞美感與唱歌的氣口，注入最深刻的母語情感連結；此外，此次專輯也特別邀請到台灣龐克祖師爺濁水溪公社的主唱小柯、金曲獎最佳作曲得主余佩真、Tizzy Bac樂團主唱陳惠婷、電子樂國寶三牲獻藝獻唱贊聲，為拍謝少年的音樂視角，長出全新模樣。

九首歌曲，用台語譜寫日子裏的歹勢與好勢，以及這之間的無常變化。

三人樂隊，用另類、大聲、自由的聲響，演奏出我們最喜歡的搖滾樂。

“In life, good and bad things happen in turn. They are just different possibilities of life.”

They played live in many different places, such as a spicy hotpot restaurant, bowling alley and even bus transfer station. The band’s chemistry and their music benefited from these efforts, which can be heard on their second album “Brothers Shouldn’t Live Without Dreams”. Taking brotherhood as the main concept, they focused on all kinds of unfairness in the society. Sorry Youth sings not only for themselves but also for the lower social class in general.

The inspiration for Sorry Youth’s third album, Bad Times, Good Times, came from an eureka moment when the band consulted an experienced musician for his advice on Taiwanese lyrics. Album title in the original language explained as below:

The word “pháinn-sè” (“Bad Times”) is a common auxiliary verb used by the general public, while “hó-sè” (“Good Times”) has two different meanings when used in two opposite situations. Hó-sè can be used to describe a situation when things are going smoothly, and conversely, it can also be used sarcastically on a messed-up situation. When saying out loud, these two words that rhyme show the unique beauty and depth of written Taiwanese. Putting together, various meanings of these two words float between the two spectrums in a fascinating manner.

在上山下海、提名金曲獎的生猛《海口味》之後，拍謝少年回歸日時上班領薪水，暗時熱炒唸歌詩的青年生活。少年仔炙熱的橫衝直撞，逐漸轉化成青年內斂的透徹目光；從台語搖滾繼續出發，拍謝少年精煉寫作能力，探索更多樣化的編曲可能性，在本格的豪邁音色中，加入藍調民謠、廟會唸歌、重唱和聲等元素，更以同步錄音的製作方式，保留拍謝少年現場演出生猛氣味。

After their debut album came out, Sorry Youth spent 5 long years collecting live experiences, and practiced twice a week while working hard to make a living. Playing together has become one of the most important things in their lives, rock’n’roll music connected them with each other.

The album was produced by award-winning Blaire Ko (柯智豪). It brought delicate vocal harmonies, sound changes and longer improvisations, combining far-off inspirations such as western blues and Eastern temple tradition, brass instruments and Beiguan music – all of that becoming Sorry Youth’s very own unique style.

What’s their goal? They want to create hit songs that even our grandparents will keep on their playlists. Surely, they want to spread their inner belief in life full of passion and creativity. In any case, Sorry Youth represent the true spirit of modern Taiwanese music.

專輯收錄歌曲橫跨六個年頭，少年們面向土地的創作，曲風橫跨噪音、迷幻、聲響與節奏搖滾。拍謝說整張專輯有完整的概念，倒是每首歌的背後有著幾個日子累積的生活迴盪著。現場破音撞擊，帶出青春的衝突、扶持與友誼。搖滾樂只有在被演奏的時候才存在。

Because of a vivid gyotaku printing on the front cover of Sorry Youth’s debut album “Sea Food”, milkfish has become the classic symbol of their unlimited vitality and creativity.

The members of this power trio decided to learn how to play rock instruments after their first Spring Scream (春天吶喊) festival experience. Inspired by music of Chasing Sparrow (追麻雀), 8mm Sky (八厘米天空), LTK Commune (濁水溪公社), Wu-Bai (伍佰) and Lim Giong (林強), Sorry Youth tried to infuse local Taiwanese flavors into their compositions.

Sorry Youth picked their name as a tribute to Sonic Youth. Early in their career, they mainly played instrumental rock. But after some live performances and demo recordings, they started to write their own music with lyrics in Taiwanese. Based on their life stories, their music always has the passion which helps them deeply connect with the audience.

Rough, full of power and energy, their first album “Sea Food” tells inner stories about teenagers wandering from south (Kaohsiung) to north (Taipei). It brings memories of sea waves and warm breezes. Through their jamming guitars, bass and drums, this golden triangle proves they are one of a kind in the Taiwanese rock’n’roll scene.
